The three cases

A pronoun changes form according to its job in the sentence. Nothing else in modern English does this, which is why it is examined so heavily.

None of the possessives takes an apostrophe. 'Its', 'hers', 'ours' and 'theirs' are already possessive, and 'it's' is always 'it is'.
